If A and B are two mutually exclusive events, then   AIEEE  Solved  Paper-2002

    A) \[P(A)<P(\overline{B})\]

    B)          \[P(A)>P(\overline{B})\]

    C)           \[P(A)<P(B)\]

    D)          None of these

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

    Since, A and 8 are two mutually exclusive events. \[\therefore \]     \[A\cap B\ne 0\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[A\subseteq \overline{B}\] and \[B\subseteq \overline{A}\]              \[\Rightarrow \]   \[P(A)\le P(\overline{B})\] and \[P(B)\le P(\overline{A})\]. NOTE Two events A and B are said to be mutually exclusive events, if \[A\cap B=\phi \].
