    A) alumina

    B)           bauxite

    C) molten cryolite

    D) alumina mixed with molten cryolite

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

Aluminium is extracted by electrolysis of a fused mixture of alumina (2-8%) synthetic cryolite \[N{{a}_{3}}Al{{F}_{6}}\] (80-85%), \[Al{{F}_{3}}\] and fluorspar. This makes alumina good conductor and lowers the fusion temperature also.
