    Answer:

      (i) Loona Bimberton declined the party. (ii) She declined the invitation because she could not bear to see her rival Mrs Packletide in the limelight. (iii) The repressed emotions can be changed into a feeling of revenge if they go beyond a certain limit. Or (i) Mr Abel speaks these words to Jordan and Slater. (ii) Abel makes this statement on seeing Ben in mourning. (iii) Abel is told someone in Ben's family had expired.
