Dena Apartments' Welfare Association Delhi-IIOOSI 25th April, 20XX The Editor                         The Herald                        Delhi-11002 Subject Problems of Traffic During Peak Hours Sir, Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I want to draw the attention of the concerned authorities towards the problems faced during the peak hours of traffic both in the morning and the evening not only by the residents of Dena apartments but by the other passers by. This road is connected to more than ten small colonies and most people use this road. It has become so congested that school going children and old people find it difficult to cross the roads. Even though there are traffic signals on the crossing yet the traffic is beyond control. To combat this problem, the road can be widened as there is enough space on both sides of the road. Two zones can be created for easy flow of traffic. I hope my views will receive due recognition in your newspaper for the common well-being. Yours faithfully Kritika Secretary Dena Apartments' Welfare Association Or Save Tigers from Extinction Our planet Earth is blessed with such a huge variety of animals and other species. Butwhy should even any one of the species become extinct due to human selfishness andmany times due to various myths and legends. It is really a matter of great concernand demands immediate remedial steps to prevent the situation from getting worse. Some official figures show the falling number of tigers, which reveals the fact that the tigers will soon be on the extinction list. In 1972, tiger population fell by 1827, in 1979by 3015, in 1984 by 4005, in 1989 by 4334, in 1993 by 3750, in 1997 by 3508, in 2004by 3500, in 2008 by 2200 and in 2012 by another 1400. If we go a little deeper behind tiger poaching, we find that all parts of a tiger's bodyare sold at a high rate in foreign countries. Our failure to protect the tiger populationfrom the shots of the poachers is mainly responsible for their dwindling number.' Some fashion crazy people lust for fashion items from tiger hides. Tiger body parts are likegold for their aphrodisiac qualities. We should initiate to open more tiger reserves and animal parks. Rigorous steps needto be taken to keep a vigil on the poachers in these reserves and the culprits should bepunished severely, who are doing such a heinous crime to set an example for the rest. We should do whatever we can to prevent this beautiful species from extinction. XYZ
