    P and Q undertake to do a piece of work for Rs. 600. P alone can do it in 6 days while Q alone can do it in 8 days. With the help of R, they finish it in 3 days. Find the share of ft.

    Solution :

    Let R does that work in x days. Quantity of work done by these three people in 1 day\[=\frac{1}{6}+\frac{1}{8}+\frac{1}{x}=\frac{7x+24}{24x}\] \[\therefore \]Number of days taken by these three people in to complete the work \[=\frac{24x}{7x+24}\] Given,               \[\frac{24x}{7x+24}=3\] \[\Rightarrow \]               \[24x=21x+72\Rightarrow 3x=72\] \[\therefore \]                  \[x=\frac{72}{3}=24\] \[\therefore \]Ratio of their works = P : Q : R \[=\frac{1}{6}:\frac{1}{8}:\frac{1}{24}=4:3:1\] \[\therefore \]Share of R \[=\frac{1}{4+3+1}\times 600=\,\,Rs.\,\,75\]
