    Solution :

     S.I. on Rs. \[(300+40)\] for a given time = Rs. 40. S.I. on Rs. 260 for half the time = Rs. 20. T.D. on Rs. 280 = Rs. 20. \[\therefore \]T.D. on Rs. 300 = Rs. \[\left( \frac{20}{280}\,\,\,\,\,\,300 \right)\]              = Rs. 21.42
