    Solution :

     Let the woman's age be \[7x\] years and her daughter's age be \[x\] years. According to the question,  \[7x+x=2\,\,\,\,\,16\]   \[\Rightarrow \]\[8x=32\]   \[\Rightarrow \] \[x=\frac{32}{8}=4\]   \[\therefore \] Woman's age \[=7x\]                  \[=7\,\,\,\,4\,\,=28\] years
