A conical vessel is lying on a table with its base downwards. The capacity of the vessel is 500 litres and its vertical height is 150 cm. If 244 litres of water is put in the vessel, then what is the height of the water level in the conical vessel above the table?

    A) 25 cm

    B) 30 cm

    C) 35 cm

    D) 40 cm

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    1 \[{{m}^{3}}\]space can contain 1000 litres. \[\Rightarrow \]     1 litre is contained in 1000 cm3 Capacity of the vessel \[=\text{ }500\times 1000\text{ }c{{m}^{3}}\] If r cm be the radius of the cone, we have \[\frac{1}{3}\pi {{r}^{2}}.150=500\times 1000\] \[\Rightarrow \,\,\,\,\,r=\frac{100}{\sqrt{\pi }}\].This helps to find the height.
