A body travelling with uniform acceleration crosses two point P and Q with velocities 20 \[m{{s}^{-1}}\]and 30 \[m{{s}^{-1}}\]respectively. What is the velocity at mid-point of P and Q?

    A) \[25m{{s}^{-1}}\]

    B) \[24\,m{{s}^{-1}}\]

    C) \[25.5\,m{{s}^{-1}}\]

    D) none of these

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

    [c] \[{{v}^{2}}-{{u}^{2}}=2a\text{ }S\]or \[{{\left( 30 \right)}^{2}}-{{\left( 20 \right)}^{2}}=\text{ }2\]a S or \[a=\frac{250}{S}\], where S = PQ Also, \[{{V}^{2}}_{1}-{{(20)}^{2}}=2\times \frac{250}{S}\times \frac{S}{2}=250\] or \[{{V}_{1}}^{2}=650\] which gives \[{{v}_{1}}=\sqrt{650}=25.5\,\,ms{{~}^{-1}}\] Here \[{{v}_{1}}\] is velocity at the mid-point of PQ
