    Solution :

    [a] Let P be the sum, then \[P{{\left( 1+\frac{r}{100} \right)}^{3}}=6690\,\,and\,P{{\left( 1+\frac{r}{100} \right)}^{6}}=10035.\] \[\Rightarrow \] on dividing we have \[{{\left( 1+\frac{r}{100} \right)}^{3}}={}^{3}/{}_{2}\] \[\therefore \,\,\,P=\text{ }6690\times \frac{2}{3}=\text{ }Rs.\text{ }4460.\]
