Regarding a semiconductor which one of the following is wrong?

    A)  There are no free electron at room temperature.

    B)  There are no free electron at OK

    C)  The number of free electron increases with rise of temperature.

    D)  The charge carriers are electron and holes.

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

In a semiconductor, at OK, no covalent bond break. Hence no electron is free at OK. But at room temperature some covalent bonds break therefore, some electron and holes become free. More convalent bonds break at high temperature and therefore number of free electrons increases at high temperature.
