A stone is tied to one end of a string of \[40\,cm\] long is whirled in a horizontal circle with a constant speed. If the stone makes 10 revolutions in 20 second. The magnitude of the acceleration is:

    A)  \[990cm/{{s}^{2}}\]

    B)  \[394\,cm/{{s}^{2}}\]

    C)  \[250\,cm/{{s}^{2}}\]

    D)  none of these

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    Here, length of the string \[l=40\,cm\] Time period      \[T=\frac{20}{10}\,2\,\sec \] and angular velocity             \[\omega =\frac{2\pi }{T}=\frac{3\times 3.14}{2}=3.14\] Hence the magnitude of acceleration is             \[\alpha ={{\omega }^{2}}\times l={{(3.14)}^{2}}\times 40\]                 \[=394\,cm/{{s}^{2}}\]
