    [d] Ad hoc judges are appointed from among High Court Judges qualified to be Supreme Court Judges and not from retired Supreme Court Judges. Acting judges are retired Judges of the Supreme Court who are appointed for a temporary period and are not deemed to be Judges of the Supreme Court even though they have all the powers, privileges and jurisdiction of a normal Supreme Court Judge Prior consent of the person is necessary before being appointed as either Ad hoc judge or Acting judge. In addition, in case of Ad hoc judges, consent of the Chief justice of the High Court and in case of Acting judge, the consent of the President is also required.
