    Solution :

[a] Depending on conditions, its soil half-life can range from 22 days to 30 years. Its breakdown products and metabolites, DDE and DDD, are also persistent and have similar chemical and physical properties. DDT and DDE are resistant to metabolism; in humans, their half-lives are 6 and up to 10 years, respectively. Ingestion of excess fluoride, most commonly in drinking- water, can cause fluorosis which affects the teeth and bones. Calcium is known to accumulate in the human kidney for a relatively long time, from 20 to 30 years, and, at high doses, is also known to produce health effects on the respiratory system and has been associated with bone disease. Mercury pollution produces multiple effects of the human body and is most known for causing Minamata disease.
