  • question_answer
Consider the conic \[=\frac{{{(x+1)}^{2}}}{\pi }+\frac{{{y}^{2}}}{3}=1.\] Suppose P is any point on the conic and \[{{S}_{1}},{{S}_{2}}\] are the foci of the conic, then the maximum value of \[(P{{S}_{1}}+P{{S}_{2}})\] is

    A) \[2\pi \]

    B)                    \[3\sqrt{\pi }\]

    C) \[2\sqrt{\pi }\]

    D)                    \[\pi \sqrt{3}\]

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

    \[\frac{{{(x+1)}^{2}}}{\pi }+\frac{{{y}^{2}}}{3}=1\]                 \[\therefore \,\,(P{{S}_{1}}+P{{S}_{2}})=2\sqrt{\pi }\](constant)                                 (Using property of ellipse)
