In analogy to \[O_{2}^{+}{{[Pt{{F}_{6}}]}^{-}}\] a compound \[N_{2}^{+}{{[Pt{{F}_{6}}]}^{-}}\]will not be formed because

    A)  the ionisation enthalpy of \[{{\text{N}}_{\text{2}}}\]gas is higher than that of \[{{\text{O}}_{\text{2}}}\] gas

    B)  the ionisation enthalpy of \[{{\text{N}}_{\text{2}}}\] gas is lower than that \[{{\text{O}}_{\text{2}}}\] gas

    C)  the ionisation enthalpy of\[{{\text{N}}_{\text{2}}}\] gas is higher than that of N atom

    D)  None of the above

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

lonization enthalpy of \[{{N}_{2}}\] gas (1503 kJ \[mo{{l}^{-1}}\]) is higher than that \[{{O}_{2}}\] gas (1175 kJ \[mo{{l}^{-1}}\]) and it cannot lose its electron so easily as \[{{O}_{2}}\] does informing \[O_{2}^{+}+{{[Pt{{F}_{6}}]}^{-}}\]compound.
