    2. An adjournment suspends the work in a sitting for a unlimited time.
    3. The period in the budget session when the House is adjourned for detailed discussions of the budget in the committees is termed as 'recess'.
Which of the statement(s) given above is/are correct?

    A)  Only 1

    B)  1 and 2

    C)  1 and 3

    D)                     Only 3

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

[a] The minimum time gap between two sessions of Parliament cannot be more than six months. In other words, the Parliament should meet atleast twice a year. Thus Statement 1 is correct Adjournment is for specified time period and is not for unlimited period. This makes Statement 2 wrong. In Statement 3, recess refers to the period between two sessions and not the gap between the same session.
