    Solution :

[d] Following factors affect soil formation Climate It is the most important single factor in the soil formation. The amount of rainfall and range of temperature are the most important climatic factors affecting soil formation. Vegetation The growth and decay of vegetation determines the humus content of the soil. Roots of plants penetrate the soil and make it porous. Weathering Extremes of temperature (as in the day and night temperatures in deserts), freezing and thawing of ice break down rocks and favour soil formation. Relief Low relief areas generally experience deposition and have deep layer of soil, whereas the soils are generally shallow in the plateau areas. Parent material Parent rock determines the composition of soil.
