[a] The HRIDAY that seeks to preserve and rejuvenate the rich cultural heritage of the country was launched by unioa Government on 21st January, 2015. It aims to bring? together the three elements-urban planning, economic growth and heritage conservation. Rich heritage and cultural history are the basis on which the cities have to be selected. There are twelve cities have been identified namefl Amravati (Andhra Pradesh), Gaya (Bihar), Dwarka, (Gujarat), Badami (Karnataka), Puri (Odisha), Amritsar (Punjab), Ajmer (Rajasthan), Kanchipuram and VelankaTB (Tamil Nadu), Warrangal (Telangana) and Mathura and Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh). The scheme broadly focus four theme areas i.e. physical, institutional, economic a social infrastructure for reviving and revitalising the so heritage city. It is a central scheme where 100% funa will be provided by the government of India. The duraio of this scheme is four years i.e. from December, 201March, 2018.
