    [d] Kushan empire gave rise to several school of art i.e. Central Asian, Gandhara and Mathura. These were also influenced by Buddhism. In Gandhara period, images and hairstyle of Buddha was made in the Graeco Roman style. The influence of this art form spread to Mathura, which was also having its own art form. Mathura produced highly artistic images of Buddha. It is also famous for headless erect statue of Kanishka. It also produced some stone images of Mahavira.
