Lava dance is a very colourful and energetic dance of Lakshadweep, in which the dancers are dressed in multi-hued costumes and headgears. They also carry a drum while dancing. In this form of dance, the participants perform to the rhythmic beats of drums and songs. The Nongkrem dance festival is celebrated during autumn at Smit, the cultural centre of the Khasi hills. A five day long religious festival of the Khasi tribes, Ka Pemblang Nongkem dance is popularly known as Nongkrem dance.
