Trees of this forest type shed their leaves for about six to eight weeks in dry summer in order to save moisture, these forests are further divided into moist and dry deciduous. The former is found in areas receiving rainfall between 200 and 100 cm whereas later are found in areas rainfall receiving from 70 to 150cm.
