Natural methods of birth control to avoid meeting of sperm and ovum are as follows

· Periodic abstinence In this method, the couples avoid or abstain from coitus from day 10th - 17th of the menstrual cycle because ovulation can occur during this period.

· Coitus interrupts Male withdraws his penis from the vagina just before ejaculation to avoid insemination.

· Lactational Amenorrhea Method (LAM) There is no menstrual cycle and therefore, ovulation does not occur during intense lactation following parturition. However, this method is effective only upto maximum period of six months after childbirth.
