    (i) Oral contraceptive pills are taken for birth control. Mala - D and Mala - N are called as combined contraceptive pills. Why?
(ii) Why morning pills are considered as emergency contraceptives?

    Answer:

    (i) Oral contraceptive pills either contain progestin (progesterone) alone or a combination of progesterone and oestrogen. Mala, D and Mala , N contain both, progesterone and oestrogen, therefore, they are known as combined pills.
(ii) Morning after pills are also known as emergency contraceptives. The first term is actually a misnomer because these pills can prevent pregnancy if taken within 72 hours after unprotected sexual intercourse. They can either suppress ovulation or prevent it. They are more effective in the first 24 hours, e.g. i , Pill, Pill, 72 and Unwanted 72.
