How does pistil recognise the pollen grain of the right type?
    Or
Why is emasculation not required in unisexual flowers during artificial hybridisation?

    Answer:

Pistil recognises the pollen grain of the right type by special proteins, (f an unwanted pollen is encountered, the pistil rejects the pollen by preventing pollen germination on the stigma or pollen tube growth in the style which is also determined by specific chemicals. This continuous dialogue between pollen and pistil is referred to as pollen pistil interaction.
    Or
Emasculation is the removal of stamens from the floral buds of female parent, so that the chances of self - pollination can be eliminated. Unisexual flowers possess either stamens or pistils. So, self - pollination is not possible in unisexual flowers. Therefore, emasculation is not required in such flowers during artificial hybridization.
