What kind of threat to biodiversity may lead to its loss?

    Answer:

    (i)  Destruction of habitat, cutting of trees and filling of wetlands.
(ii) Pollution reduces and eliminates sensitive species.
    (iii) Eutrophication of water bodies.
(iv) National disturbance like fire and defoliation by insects.
    (v) Introduction of invasive exotic species causes disappearance of native species. Organic evolution, not only creates new species, but also eliminates some old ones. This is a natural process. Dinosaurs are thought to have disappeared due to collision of a big meteorite with earth. Collision might have raised a huge dust cloud which screened sunlight, causing destruction of vegetation and fall in temperature.
