Why does the intensity of the secondary maximum become less as compared to the central maximum?

    Answer:

The central maximum is due to the constructive interference of wavelets from all parts of the slit. With the increase in the value of n, the wavelets from lesser and lesser parts of the slit produce constructive interference to form a secondary maximum. Hence the intensity of secondary maximum decreases with the increase in the value of \[n\].
