Railways Quantitative Aptitude Speed, Time and Distance Question Bank Time, Speed and distance Sample Test Paper-12

  • question_answer
In covering a certain distance, the speeds of A and B are in the ratio of 3 : 4. A takes 30 minutes more than B to reach the destination. The time taken by 'A' to reach the destination is

    A)  1 hrs

    B)  2 hrs

    C)  \[2\frac{1}{2}\] hrs

    D)  \[1\frac{1}{2}\] hrs

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    [b] Let B takes x H then A takes \[\left( x+\frac{1}{2} \right)H\] \[\therefore \] \[\left( x+\frac{1}{2} \right)3=x\times 4\] \[6x+3=8x\] 2x = 3 \[x=\frac{3}{2}\] \[\therefore \] \[A\,\,takes\,=\frac{3}{2}+\frac{1}{2}\] = 2 hrs.
