    A) \[11:40\text{ }p.m.\]

    B)       \[12:48\text{ }p.m.\]

    C) \[12:00\text{ }p.m.\]

    D)        \[10:00\text{ }p.m.\]

    E) None of these

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Explanation Option [b] is correct. Number of hrs from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on the following day = 29 hrs. Since, the clock gains 10 minute in 24 hrs. so, 24 hrs 10 minute = 24 hrs of the correct clock or \[\frac{10}{60}+24\text{ }hrs=24\] hrs. or \[24\frac{1}{6}hrs=24\] hrs. or c hrs = 24 hrs of the correct clock. So, 29 hrs of the clock \[=\frac{6\times 29\times 24}{45}=18\] hrs. 48 minute of correct clock =a difference of 12 minute. Therefore, the correct clock will show 12:48 hrs.
