The founding editor of this newspaper was Zafar Ali Khan, a poet, intellectual, writer, Muslim nationalist and supporter of All India Muslim League's Pakistan Movement. The Al-Hilal was a weekly Urdu language newspaper established by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.
