How did religious texts encourage religious debates and discussions?

    Answer:

Religious texts published by scholars of different religions often led to debates and discussions; specially on religious issues. New interpretations of beliefs of different religions were encouraged by scholars leading to further discussion.
Some criticised existing practices and campaigned for reform while other countered the arguments of reformers.
These debates were carried in print and were circulated among the scholars as well as people. Printed material and newspapers not only spread the new ideas, they shaped public opinion. This led to wider participation of people.
New ideas emerged through these clashes of opinions.
