Before the age of print, how did the common people learn about the sacred texts?

    Answer:

Before book-printing became widespread, reading was restricted to the elite. Common people lived in a world of oral culture.
They heard the texts which were read out to them or the ballads that were recited to them. Folk tales were often narrated to them. People collectively heard the text read out- thus knowledge was transferred to them orally.
