    Explain in four points how the relief and rainfall influence the distribution of Natural Vegetation in India.

    Answer:

    The western slopes of the Western Ghats receive more than 200 cm of rainfall. Due to heavy rainfall Tropical evergreen forests are found in this region on a large scale.
    (a) In the mountain regions, wet temperate forests are found between a height of 1000 and 2000 metres. Between 1500 and 3000 metres coniferous trees like pine, deodar, spruce and cedar are found.
    (b) In regions less than 70 cm of rainfall, in semi-arid regions the vegetation consists of acacias, palms, euphorbias and cacti are found. These trees belong to thorn forests.
    (c) In areas of 70 cm to 100 cm dry deciduous type of forests are found which shed leaves in dry period. Such areas are open stretches in which teak, sal, peepal and neem are found.
