In an experiment two identical beakers A and B were filled with 50 ml of water. The beaker A was kept in the sun and the beaker 'B' was kept in shade. After a few hours it was found that the quantity of water is not same in both the beakers. Why?

    A) The rate of evaporation of solution of beaker 'A' is more than that of 'B'

    B) The rate of evaporation of solution beaker 'A' is less than that of 'B'

    C) The rate of evaporation is same

    D) None of the above

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

The rate of evaporation is more in beaker A which is kept in sun light because the rate of evaporation increases with temperature. More of water is lost as vapour from beaker A than from B and so the quantity of water in two beakers is not same.
