                        The p-side of the diode is earthed, it is at zero potential. So the diode conducts current when input level is \[-\text{1 V}\] and does not conduct when the input level is\[+\text{ 1 V}\]. As the diode is ideal, the output across it will be either 0 or\[-\text{ 1 V}\], as shown in Fig.
