How is a sample of an n-type semi- conductor electrically neutral though it has an excess of negative charge carriers?

    Answer:

In an n-type semiconductor, the pentavalent impurity atom shares four of its valence electrons   with four teletravalent host atoms while its fifth electron remains free. This impurity atom as a whole is electrically neutral. So the semiconductor is also neutral.
