The ratio of the students in schools \[x,\,\,y\]and \[z\] is \[5:4:7.\]If the number of students hi the schools are increased by 20%, 25% and 20% respectively. What would be the new ratio of the students in schools x, y and z?

    A) \[5:5:7\]

    B)  \[30:25:42~\]

    C) \[30:20:49\]

    D)  None of these

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    Let the number of students in schools \[x,\] \[y\]and \[z\] be, \[5a,\]\[4a\] and \[7a\] respectively. New strength of school \[x=120%\] of\[5a\]\[=\left( \frac{6}{5}\times 5a \right)=6a.\]. New strength of school \[y=125%\] of\[7x=\frac{6}{5}\times 7x=\frac{42x}{5}\]. \[\therefore \] New strength of school \[z=120%\]of \[7x=\frac{6}{5}\times 7x=\frac{42x}{5}\] \[\therefore \]New ratio\[=6x:5x:\frac{42x}{5}=30:25:42.\]
