Five square flower beds each of sides 1.2 m are dug on a piece of land 4.8 m long and 4.2 m wide. What is the area of the remaining part of land?

    A)  \[\text{12}\text{.69 }{{\text{m}}^{\text{2}}}\]

    B)  \[\text{12}\text{.96 }{{\text{m}}^{\text{2}}}\]

    C)  11.96m2

    D)  \[\text{144 }{{\text{m}}^{\text{2}}}\]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    Area of land \[=4.8\times 4.2=20.16\text{ }{{m}^{2}}\] Area of 1 flower bed \[=1.2\times 1.2=1.44\text{ }{{m}^{2}}\] \[\therefore \] Area of 5 flower beds \[=5\times 1.44=7.2\text{ }{{m}^{2}}\] So, area of the remaining part of land \[=20.16-7.2\text{ }=\text{ }12.96\text{ }{{m}^{2}}\]
