Two circular cylinders of equal volume have their heights in the ratio 1:3. The ratio of their radii is

    A) \[4:\sqrt{3}\]

    B)         \[3:2\sqrt{3}\]

    C)  \[2:\sqrt{3}\]

    D)         \[3:\sqrt{3}\]

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

     Let the heights be h and 3/i and the radii be r and R. Then \[\pi \,{{r}^{2}}h=\pi \,{{R}^{2}}\times 3h\]                 or            \[{{r}^{2}}=3{{R}^{2}}\]                 or            \[\frac{r}{R}=\sqrt{3}=\frac{3}{\sqrt{3}}\]                 \[\therefore \]  \[r:R=3:\sqrt{3}\]
