A rectangular box is of length \[l\] units and width b units. The length of another box is twice the length of the first box and its width is half the width of the first box. How are their areas related?

    A)  The area of first box is twice the area of the second box.

    B)  The area of second box is twice the area of the first box.

    C)  The areas of both the boxes are equal.

    D)  The area of first box is tripled.

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

Length of the first box \[\text{=}l\] unit Width of the box = b units \[\therefore \]Its area = \[l\text{b}\]sq. units. Length of the second box \[=2\text{ }l\] units Width \[=\frac{b}{2}\]units \[\therefore \] Its area \[=2l\times \frac{b}{2}=lb\]sq. units Therefore, the areas of both the boxes are equal.
