    The developments that preceded the Civil Disobedience Movement are:
    (a) Lahore Session (1929) of Congress- decision in Purna Swaraj and launching of Civil Disobedience Movement.
    Pledge of independence on 26th January 1930, Gandhiji ultimatum to the British government and the rejection of demands.
    (b) Gandhiji'a Salt Satyagraha-Dandi March on 12 March 1931 - making salt at Dandi by boiling sea water by defying salt law -the beginning of widespread mass movement.
    (c) Rowlatt Act: Refer to Ans. 15 (1 Mark).
    (d) Civil Disobedience Movement: Refer to Ans. 14 (3 Marks).
