(i) Petroleum is a mineral fuel, associated with fold mountains and a sedimentary formation.

(ii) It is used as a fuel as well as raw material in petro-chemical industries.

(iii) Liquified petroleum gas is used as a domestic fuel while compressed natural gas is used as a fuel in auto­mobiles.

(iv) It is non-renewable and pollutes the atmosphere on a large scale.
