    Describe the regional variations in the climatic conditions of India with the help of suitable examples.

    Answer:

    There is regional variations in the climatic conditions of India. Temperature and precipitation vary from place 10 place and season to season.
    (a) In summer the temperature rises to \[50{}^\circ C\] in certain places in Rajasthan, whereas it may be around \[20{}^\circ C\]in Pahalgarn in Kashmir.
    (b) In winter night the temperature in Drass in Kashmir may be minus \[45{}^\circ C\] whereas Tiruvanantapurarn in Kerala may have a temperature of \[20{}^\circ C\].
    (c) In Andaman Islands the difference between day and night temperatures may be hardly seven to eight degrees Celsius.
    (d) The upper regions of Himalayas receive precipitation in the form of snowfall. It rains over the rest of the country. The annual rainfall in Meghalaya is 400 cm and less than 10 cm in Western Rajasthan and Ladakh. Most parts of the country receive rainfall from June to September but Tamil Nadu gets most of its rain during October and November.
    (e) Coastal areas experience less contrast in temperature conditions. Seasonal contrasts are none in the interior of the country. There is decrease in rainfall generally from east to west in the Northern plains.            (Any four)
