    Give an account of cotton cultivation in India, under the following heads:

    Cotton:
    (a) Temperature: Cotton is grown in tropical and subtropical areas. It requires at least 210 frost-free days in a year. At the time of harvest the weather should be fine to maintain the lustre of the cotton.
    (b) Soil: It grows well in black and alluvial soils.
    (c) Producing states: Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and Gujarat.
