Speed of the stream = 1 Km/hr Downstream speed = (x + 1) km/hr Upstream speed = (x - 1) km/hr According to question, 5(x + 1) = 6(x- 1) \[\Rightarrow 5x+5=6x-6\] \[\Rightarrow 5+6=6x-5x\Rightarrow x=11\] Hence, the speed of the steamer in still water is 11 km/hr.
