A certain freezing process requires that room temperature be lowered from \[{{40}^{o}}C\] at the rate of \[{{5}^{o}}C\] every hour. What is the room temperature after 10 hours?

    A)  \[-\,46{}^\circ C~\]

    B)  \[-18{}^\circ C\]

    C)  \[-10{}^\circ C\]

    D)  \[-25{}^\circ C\]

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

    (c) Initial temperature of room\[=40{}^\circ C\]. Given that the temperature lowers at the rate of \[5{}^\circ C\]every hour. For 10 hours \[\to 10\times \left( -5\text{ }{}^\circ C \right)=-\text{ }50\text{ }{}^\circ C.\] So, starting from \[40{}^\circ C,\]temperature comes down to\[40{}^\circ -50{}^\circ C\]\[=-10{}^\circ C\].
