  • question_answer
At what pressure will a quantity of gas, which occupies \[100\,ml\] at a pressue of \[720\,mm\], occupy a volume of \[84\,ml\]            [DPMT  2004]

    A)                 736.18 mm

    B)                 820.20 mm

    C)                 784.15 mm

    D)                 857.14 mm

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

Given that:                    \[{{V}_{1}}=100ml,{{P}_{1}}=720mm,{{V}_{2}}=84ml,{{P}_{2}}=?\]                    By using \[{{P}_{1}}{{V}_{1}}={{P}_{2}}{{V}_{2}}\] [According to the Boyle's law]                    \[{{P}_{2}}=\frac{{{P}_{1}}{{V}_{1}}}{{{V}_{2}}}=\frac{720\times 100}{84}=857.142\]                                 Hence, \[{{P}_{2}}=857.14mm\]
