JEE Main & Advanced Chemistry Equilibrium / साम्यावस्था Question Bank Hydrogenion concentration pH scale and buffer solution

  • question_answer
When \[100\,\,ml\] of \[M/10\,\,NaOH\] solution and \[50\,\,ml\] of \[M/5\,\,HCl\] solution are mixed, the \[pH\] of resulting solution would be                                         [RPMT 1997]

    A)                 0

    B)                 7

    C)                 Less than 7

    D)                 More than 7

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

                    100 ml of \[\frac{M}{10}\]NaOH = 50ml of \[\frac{M}{5}\]NaOH. They exactly neutralise 50 ml \[\frac{N}{5}\]HCl. Hence pH of resulting solution = 7.
