A current of 2 A flows in a system of conductors as shown in the figure. The potential difference\[{{V}_{A}}-{{V}_{B}}\]is

    A)  \[+\,2\,V\]

    B)  \[+\,1\,V\]

    C)  \[-\,1\,V\]

    D)         \[-\,2\,V\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

The resistance of branches \[ABC\] and \[ADC\]in parallel are both\[5\Omega \]. So, the current entering at node \[A\] will get equally divided in each parallel branch.                 \[{{V}_{A}}-{{V}_{B}}=IR=1\times 2=2V\] Point \[A\] is at greater potential with respect point\[B\], so                 \[{{V}_{A}}-{{V}_{B}}=+2V\]
