In the circuit shown in Figure the heat produce! in resistance \[{{R}_{1}}\] can be measured by

    A)  connecting both voltmeter and an ammeter min parallel to \[{{R}_{1}}\]

    B)  connecting both voltmeter in series with \[{{R}_{1}}\]and voltmeter in parallel to both \[{{R}_{1}}\]and \[{{R}_{2}}\]

    C)  connecting ammeter in parallel to \[{{R}_{1}}\] and voltmeter in series with \[{{R}_{1}}\]

    D)  connecting voltmeter in parallel to \[{{R}_{1}}\] and ammeter in series with \[{{R}_{1}}\]

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

(Misprint: read voltmeter in options ,  and  as voltmeter.) For measuring the heat produced in a resistor, we must know the voltage drop across it and the current through the same resistor. Voltmeter is always connected in parallel and ammeter always in series.
